What We Learn

At Semiahmoo Junior Robotics, students are introduced to STEM through robotics and have an opportunity to learn about the fundamentals of robotics and engineering through hands-on experience with VEX IQ Superkits. They spend the first half of their year at Semiahmoo learning how to program and build in an efficient manner, after which they prepare to compete at the VEX IQ Challenge which draws teams from across the mainland.

What We Do

Semiahmoo Junior Robotics consists of two teams that compete annually at the VEX IQ Challenge in the Canadian Pacific region: 6458A Plastic Dinosaurs and 6458B Need4Speed. Under the mentorship of senior team members, the Junior Robotics Team must work together to come up with an innovative solution to the year's challenge. They must discuss, draw designs, program and build together using the skills learnt in the first half of the year.

Why It Matters

The tech world is an ever-changing landscape with new technologies and innovations that can help mankind develop and prosper. Watch our interview with members of the Junior Robotics where they explain why STEM and robotics matter in our community
